I guess this is aimed at M3Compact mainly but is the Compact rear suspension setup the same as the e30? ie would springs and shocks from a Compact fit and work on the e30?

Same dampers certainly, same springs afaik.

Different bearing sizes from some E30s, and Compact has 40mm wider track, which is in the hubs/discs.
