I have a 1983 320i 2 door which is presently running on Eibach Pro-Kits and Bilstein OE replacement gas shocks (they are black in colour). The car is lowered only moderately (say an inch) and I am running 195-60-15 Yokohama AVS DBs (205-55-15s are like hens teeth here) and Mille Miglia 8 spoke alloys. The front anti-roll's are stock while the rear ones were added on and are about 14+mm thick.

Let me try and describe the problem I am experiencing :

The ride is bouncy when the road surface is undulating. The sensation is not unlike riding a small speed boat on choppy waters;

On smooth, flat roads there are no problems. In fact, the combination acquits itself well. It gives IMHO a rather nice performance-comfort compromise - it tracks well, corners flat and no drama;

On less than smooth roads the ride/handling can feel a bit 'busy' but the car holds its line, only upset when it gets really bad;

For the most part e.g. in town driving etc. I hardly notice these problems. It goes over sleeping policemen well with the 195-60-15s giving me very good clearance.

I am trying to solve the bouncy ride mentioned and was wondering if a change to some proper uprated shocks would do the trick e.g. Koni adjustables or Bilstein sports (streetline kit); OR a different set of springs (I am guessing some sort of mismatch in spring rate) would do the job.

Your opinions are appreciated.

Cheers guys!

PS I have asked around with the guys here in Malaysia but am getting conflicting opinions/suggestions. Was hoping to tap the experience of Zone members on this. Thanks again.
