Dash out and then remove all the heating ducts before you can remove them.

Way!

The vent's not coming out without un-screwing the ducting, and I couldn't get them out without removing the dash.

I've just ordered a replacement centre vent from BMW. It's nice and new and stiff (to replace my sloppy one) but I'm now thinking it may be because it's not screwed in properly to the ducts as I can kind of pull it out an inch or so.
