Hey,

i will weld my diff for drifting. The problem is, i only have diffs in small casing. 2 from 316 and 1 from 320i. Will these small diffs hold the power of M50 2.5 engine ?

I doubt that the small case would be suitable, My 32oi had a small diff and I managed to bust that with a standard engine.

They are a bit :pff: weak.

Cheers,

It might hold out if its welded, as its the smaller gears that go on these.

Bit off topic, but did any 325i cars come with the smaller diff or are they all big?

I used to weld the diff's in sierras all the time before I became a convert to LSD. In my experience the diff should hold out no probs depending on what surface your drifting on and the load that you put in the car. One or two people up front shouldnt put too much stress on a welded diff and taking it easy on the clutch and things and you should have no real probs.
