320 auto gearbox

hi, can anyone help.......

my 320 tourer drives great, only one problem.

On cold mornings, i put the gearbox into drive and move off........but the gears do not select up ie to 2nd, 3rd and then 4th..............i could be doing 25 mph in 1st.

If i pull over, switch the car off and go through all the gears a couple of times and then move off its ok......for the rest of the day.

it only seems to do this in the mornings.

should i change the oil and gearbox filter?

Probably a good place to start, if the oil is too thick from cold it might be struggling to get through all the valves and clutches.

Try an oil and filter change as you suggested and see if that helps.

Drive the car for a while to get the oil as hot as possible before draining it, the hotter it is the more contaminants and general crap will come out with it.
