hi to all have been driving e30s for years now and the temp guages have always sat on the halfway mark which i believe is correct??

prob is the last 2 320i se,s ive had the dnt go above the first line on temp guage help this cant be rite can it????
bit worried as the last 1 i owned head went and dnt want this happening again
i have done the usual boiled thermostat etc and thays opening fine have bled system but no signs of air what do i do next?? cant lose another head Daz

I agree, my latest 320i did exactly this, got a new thermostat and its sorted

BMW want Ԛ£23+VAT and halfords Ԛ£9.99 all in.

Easy to fit, don't forget to bleed the air out!

Should make your car run a little better as the ECU won't think the engine is cold and will sort the fuelling out.

If a stat sticks shut it can cause head gaskets to go, but so can blocked rads, sudden coolant loss, old age, there are loads of causes for head gaskets, most of them originate from a lack of proper maintenance.

The stat I had stuck open causing over cooling. It would take about 30 minutes to warm the heater up.
