Dear all in e30 land, has anyone swaped an m10 rack & pinion steering for a power steering set up? If yes, what model did you take it from & what are your tips for doing the swap?

Any power rack will fit, and the actual pumps are all the same with different mounting brackets. I suppose that M40 pipework will be about right, but I can't help you with the pump mounting and drive arrangements, other than stuff from an M10 of course.
