It'll either be corrosion of the pins in the driver's door plug and socket (easy fix) or a flooded locking ECU. This results in a useless ECU, and unfortunately, quite often results in burnt out lock motors on the doors, the boot and the fuel cap. (not such an easy fix)
Unfortunately there's no easy way to tell which it is without dismantling the trim in the driver's footwell.
