Right, after waiting for what feels like an eternity, my clear side repeaters have finally arrived from BM Town (front ones still aren't here though  )

Here's what came in the package.....

So here's the girlie bit...are they easy to fit? - I was expecting a plug of some sort that would just be a straight swap for the original ones.

Any tips would be great, I'm getting my car back from the bodyshop this evening ( ) so I want to change them over tonight.

I did manage to fit my illuminated gear knob without blowing the car up, so hopefully I can do the same this time :chuckle:

Willow, scary coincidence.... I received my clear side repeaters from BM Town yesterday after ordering them on the 29th of March, and my crystal front indicators are arriving from Germany today so should get the tomorrow/Thursday!

LOL

I opened the box and thought crap rewiring but I didn't bother. the OEM bulb holder is slightly different to the new one. The old one has lugs that clip into the repeater. The new one doesn't.

I just unscrewed the repeater (1 phillips screw) slide the older repeater towards the front of the car.
Disconnect old repeater, swap clear bulb over for the orange, then roll back the rubber sheath that stops the water getting to the contacts. Then just slide the repeater on as far as it will go, then roll the sheath back over, holds it in place a treat.

Saves all the mucking around with tracing the indicator wires! :D

That's bizarre - I think I ordered about a week after you, I guess they've been waiting for them to come in from Germany all this time. Even more bizarre, I also ordered the crystal fronts :chuckle:
So I assume we'll be getting them around the same time 8)

That method you used definately sounds like a plan, only thing is it was a bit of a waste of money since we're only using the bulb and clear cover, nevermind, I can't be arsed rewiring either - cheers Daryll :)

Don't forget the new black housing...mine was looig old and faded.

:D

If you can srsed you could always lop off the old bulb holder and cut in the new one, the wire costs about 1p from B&Q. Took me 45 seconds to do both sides last night...roll on tomorrow night :D

Sorry Daryll I misunderstood you, so you actually used the whole new unit - is that what you're saying?

LOL, I promise I'm not blonde....

*Edit - never mind - I know what you did now :D

The only thing you don't use is the bit of wire and the bulb holder.....are you sure your not blonde?? lol

Although thinking about it you might have a point. Replaacing the amber lense for the clear one thus retaining the original lugs on the bulb holder....hmm you might have a point there batman! :D

Last time I checked I wasn't

I just have an annoying habit of making everything twice as complicated as it needs to be......

Well either of those 2 options will work so you can't get it wrong.
Hope you love the motor even more when you get her back later and don't forget to take pics.

Especially of the colour coded handles

Exactly what I did with mine. Though I get condensation inside the side repeaters... might be because the seal isn't as tight as the OEM fitting...

Giles.

A blob of silicone will sort that out a treat.

I've found that with every aftermarket side repeater I have fitted to all of my cars, filling up with water. Just never an exact replacement for the OEM part. :?
