My car seems as if stuck in park. Wont budge and stuck on a hill.
The lever moves through gears TOO easily. The lights change on the dash into drive etc etc.
Would I be right in saying the cable has either come loose or snapped hence not going into gear?
And is there a way to get it into gear manually?

Thanks

Gary

No easy way of getting it into gear manually as it would have to be running at the time - autos won't start in gear...
Sounds like the lever linkage has definately gone. Lights on the dash only come from the lever position
Currently slumming it in an E46 Touring

You can start it at the diagnostic socket.

Use a piece of wire to short together pins 11 and 14. Engages starter with or without ignition, so be careful.
There are also two black single pole connectors above the glovebox (black/yellow wires) which plug together if you disconnect the wires plugged into them. This disables the starter inhibit, and reverts the starter circuit to that on a manual car, so that you can use the key as normal BUT it will then start in drive.
