I've not changed one before but it looks easy enough.
Leave your car to stand over night so the fuel pressure drops.Pull off the vacum pipe, undo the fuel pipe but be ready with a rag to catch any spilt fuel, undo the two securing bolts and pull off.
There is an O ring that need replacing and i have a spare one if you want it ?
Or they are about 1.50p from the dealers.
As i say i've not changed one before so i'd wait for some one to confirm what i've said is correct.
nice one andy i have a price for a complete unit with rigs and things included, but thank u fella
i was thinking about using one of those Bag-lox thingys that u clamp frosties bags and other stuff closed with. if i stopped the fuel line with one of those, and had a cloth handy i should be alright shouldnt i?
iԚ´m going bmw tomorow, so ill ask them what itԚ´ll cost from them and see whos is cheapest vs. quality
just be careful as petrol will spray out as you release it for a second put a cloth over it as you take it off as petrol in the eyes burn and it dont taste very nice.
If you remove the fuel pump relay and start the car the fuel rail will depressurise leaving it safer to remove the FPR.
As you probably know it's held on with 2 M6 bolts a hose clip and a push fit for the manifold vacuum take off.
Getting one off is easy enough, but can be a sod to get back on.
The method I found to work for me was to locate the FPR in the fuel rail and put the M6 bolt in the hole closest to the windscreen, only a couple of turns though as it will raise the other mounting too far to get the bolt in.
Get the other M6 bolt in and tighten them down gradually swapping bolts after 2 turns, if you know what I mean.
This will walk the O ring into the fuel rail without snagging it up. I did mine this morning so it's fresh in my mind!
The easiest way to relive the fuel pressure is to start it up and pull out fuse 11. This will shut down the fuel pump and then the engine will cut out a few seconds later, Turn the ignition off and then remove the fuel filler cap just to release any back pressure in the tank.
Then when you pull the fuel hose off the regulator do it slowly and gravity should pull most of the remaining fuel in the injector rail back down into the tank.
And no smoking.
