Hello everybody,

Not posted on here in a long time! Could anybody offer any advice on this rust issue - do you think it would be possible to repair this......

the photo's are of the top of the a-pillar/roof area on the near side. I believe the rust may have started inside (does the front near side sunroof drain run this way?) and worked out. If it is possible to repair would it be worth it?

Thanks for any advice

James

Never seen rust there! Doesn't look promising, TBH.

I wouldn't say the car was a great condition! If it could be done at a reasonable price I may consider it - just wondered what people thought/could suggest

best just popping into a local bodyshop and getting a rough quote to give you an idea of wether its worth it to you to repair or not.depends on how much metal they have to cut back to get a good welding point and how bad it is from the inside as you say.

will have to find some time to take it to get looked at! just incase has anybody else ever encountered rust here? if so, did you get it fixed or just throw in the towel and move on?

Has the roof panel in front of the sunroof rotted as well or just the top of the A pillar?

I believe the panel infront of the sunroof to be rust free still. From the outside the a-pillar also looks clean.

Looks like a blocked sunroof drain and these can manifest in rust in many ways.

A new roof welded on from a clean car and painted to match is not a super massive job but it's only worth it if the car is worth it.

I would say thats seen action before looking the the way the rot is showing. Poss accident damage around the A pillar in the past maybe?

It could have had a roof skin poorly replaced.

I'd suggest you duck out of the way when you drop the headlining...
