OK, I am going to give up trying to get an original part, and simply buy a Timax rear box.
Now looking at http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/exhausts_di ... xtmake=BMW, it shows two E30 325i, one from 85-87, and one from 87-91.
If you look at the 87-91, it states "Vehicles with horizontal reversing lights" now I know that was part of the facelift, but as mine is a convertible I have vertical Reversing lights, so do I need the 85-87 or 87-91?
Exhaust Again...

They are using the same part numbers, should be no problem - They do seem rather cheap!!
If you were looking for original parts, then you would expect a 5 fold increase in cost. My original back box for my M3....nothing special about it really was Ԛ£269 from Motormec.....in comparison to that Timex product shown at Ԛ£25.
I know which one will last the longest!

Has anyone got a picture of a 3 piece system, as mine looks like a 3 piece but I am not sure the joins are in the right places!!!
Maybe I need a full system but if poss I only want to change the back box.

2 piece rear exhaust system has a long length of pipe that runs from the back box, almost to the centre box, where as a 3 piece system back box has a much shorter pipe running from it.DemonDaz wrote:Has anyone got a picture of a 3 piece system, as mine looks like a 3 piece but I am not sure the joins are in the right places!!!

Also 2 piece centre section has the downpipe attatched to the centre box, where as a 3 piece centre box is seperate to the downpipes.
Hope that makes sense!

Looks like mine is a three piece then, although counting the parts, it could be four.
I will jack it up tomorrow and try to get some pictures, but it looked as though the downpipe was separate to the centre box, it then looked like there was a different section between the centre box and the rear box then there was the rear box, that makes 4!!!
I need to check, BTW, the rear box is a single pipe, which is what I want to get rid of, but to do it, a Y connector has been used at the end ot the part from the centre box to back box.

Sounds like you may have a custom made system on there..DemonDaz wrote:Looks like mine is a three piece then, although counting the parts, it could be four.

OK, H aving got underneath mine, and some others at lakeside, I have come to the conclusion that my car exhaust has been hacked!!!
Basically it was a two part system, but the rear section has been cut in two to fit a 3 piece backbox. So I am going to try to replace the back box only with a 3 piece system one, failing that I'll have to get the rest of a 3 piece system.
