Hi

I have 1988 318 baur cabriolet. When you turn the key the petrol gauge hits the full mark even though it may be half empty. After tapping the plastic covering for a while it moves to the correct position. It might then go back to full again and I have to tapp it again to get to the correct reading. Any ideas?

Both my 320's and also my 518 have dodgy fuel gauges. Must be a weak spot! Shame because it's a real pain in the ass having to carry a fuel can in the boot etc just in case the gauge tells me porkies. Would be interesting to see if anybody posts how to remove the instrument cluster, maybe we can have a go at any loose connections etc!
