Stick a bleed hose on the bleed screw and slacken it off. Then push the piston back in squarely.sam325is wrote:no. how do i do that?
In the absence of a proper tool, the easiest way is to stick a screwdriver between the disc and the old pad on the piston side before you dismantle anything.
Wouldn't that result in you having to bleed the brakes afterwards? I was always told to take some fluid out of the MC.Brianmoooore wrote:Stick a bleed hose on the bleed screw and slacken it off. Then push the piston back in squarely.sam325is wrote:no. how do i do that?

No, as long as you close the bleed screw before releasing the pressure on the piston.Conrad wrote:Wouldn't that result in you having to bleed the brakes afterwards?
Doing it your way forces dirty fluid from inside the callipers back through the system, and can possibly damage seals (by reversing them) inside the ABS pump unit or the master cylinder.

Thats what I usually do - use a screwdriver between disc/pad before taking offBrianmoooore wrote:Stick a bleed hose on the bleed screw and slacken it off. Then push the piston back in squarely.sam325is wrote:no. how do i do that?

Now the calipers off you might be able to use something like a g-clamp with a thick cloth round to push the caliper back if it doesnt want to shift easy
