So has anybody here actually skimmed the head? Or used an uprated cam?
Does anybody have any before and after dyno charts we could look at to see where the real gains were?
There are limited ways to get more power or torque out of any engine, so whats limiting the M20??
Is the valve/piston clearance already borderline?

If Shrik cams give increased duration and lift (like most other perf.cams) then thats going to reduce the clearance even more surely?
someone on here must have tried skimming 10 or 20 thou off the head?? Any problems>?
Ive never worked on a BM engine but the principles going to be the same..
1) Blueprint the engine to ensure its losses are minimised.
2) Flow the ports and match to intake/exhaust - and if necessary reprofile the combustion chamber.
3) Optimise the compression ratio for the fuel used.
Then you can get into changing the nature of the engine by modifying the intake/exhasust system + revised valve timing and duration.
Any suggestions or help from people whove done it and paid the price?
