Guy's I need some desparate help I reacently changed my cylinder head and overhauled all the seals and most of the pipes in my engine bay, but I think the moron who done it for me didnt set the ignition timming correctly as the car's starter turns the motor over but she wont fire.

Does anyone know what possition the rotor arm of the distributor should be at when the car is at TDC.

Also if anyone has any other sugestions I would be greatly appreciative.

I'm a bit confused your subject line says "... wont turn over ..." while the text says "... starter turns the motor over ..."

If it wont turn over on the starter see if you can pull it round with a socket on the crank shaft pulley. Make sure you go round a couple of times to make sure that none of the valves are hitting the pistons.

I would have thought if it was timing it would at leaset kick at some point.

If it will turn have you done the normal and checked for fuel and spark?

I had a problem with mine when it flooded and wouldn't fire. Leave it to dry out for a good time.

Alternativley or pull the fuel pump fuse. If its flooded it should then fire when you crank it and die, whack the fuse back in and you're sorted.

PS what engine are you working on

I'm a bit confused to, as you say

'I reacently changed my cylinder head ' and then in the next paragraph

'I think the moron who done it for me didnt set the ignition timming correctly'

So what is it, somebody else has screwed up your car, or you've done it? If it's someone else get them to sort it.

As SVBMW said, crank it over by hand first to make sure the valves aint hiting the pistons...
