You need a service light reset tool I think

You could get one off eBay...
http://search.ebay.co.uk/bmw-reset-tool ... 9QQfromZR8

Tho I'm sure someone on here'll have one who'll bring it along for you if you're going to the same meet :D

Hi, you can do it by earthing one of the wires out, can't remember which one someone will tell you.

ignition off short out pins 7 and 11 inside your inspection socket (next to the inlet manifold) i use a paper clip but some suggest a fused wire, so long as you get the right pins a paper clip is fine( note the pin numbers are written next to the pins on the newer bigger type plugs, and on the inside of the cap on the older smaller plugs, the older smaller ones you have to remember that when the cap is upside down the pin numbers are reversed i.e. the pin diagram is only correct when the cap is on the plug and thus un-seeable (confused? no? good)

then with pins shorted turn on ignition (but don't start) and wait approximately 5-8 seconds, your oil inspection light should then go out. turn off ignition and back on again (dont start) and wait anothert 5-8 secs at that point the five green lights should come on and you have a full service!!

easy peasy

cheers ppl

i tried the method in the link stevo and it didnt work.

mrLEE30: at the moment when you turn the ignition on, it gives you the 5 green Led's and the "Inspection" light.

when you start the car the 5 green Led's go out, but the "inspection" light is still on???

i tried your method mate and it didnt knock the "inspection" light off? and next to the "inspection" light is a symbol, its like a circle with a quarter cut out of it? is this right?

yeah that is the oil inspection light and it comes on with mileage and not due to a problem i believe. try as A1bmw says and leave it on for a bit longer, i short 7 and 11 but he suggests grounding pin 7. if it still wont go out then most likely the battery in your Si board is flat and needs relplacing, not too hard a job.
