Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Just bought C reg 320 -my first E30 - and when it is cold the engine starts but doesn't hold the revs and stalls. Will start everytime no problem but will only hold revs if I keep my foot on the throttle to keep the revs up. It's fine once warmed through, only happens when it's cold????

the aux cold start valve has failed dude

cant recall what type but on LE Jetroinc there are two possibilities

you either have a water heated "wax-stat" under the inlet manifold, or there's an electric valve with a heater element and rotating disc under the back of the intake manifold, rocker cover side

in either case, it would seem to be the culprit as the cold start enrichment requires more air to reach fast idle.

post a pic or two up of the engine bay, but I'm confident its the cause dude
