i have a e30 cab which has an electric hood, and im being offerd a hood with is brand new from an other e30, but it is a manual hood, will it fit straight onto my car without any problems? and hows the easiest way to take the hood off, p.s its the whole hood including the metal frame, an not just the canvas cloth

You will need 2 people to remove the hood complete. With the hood cover open remove the motor drive rods from the motor. Remove the thicker rod completely as this blocks access to one of the mounting nuts. There are three mountings on each side, two on the base of the hood frame foot and one at the top near the removable cap to mount the hard top. It is best to remove the back seat and side panels to access these bolts as they will fall off and go inside anyway during the removal process.
Remove the rear nuts first then put the hood down to acceaa the forward nuts with a socket long extension bar. Then take out the rear seat and sides to access the last two bolts either side. Lift the hood out folded down.
You will find there are shims at each of the mounting points which are there to take up the differences in bodyshell and hood (each is slightly different).
Keep a note of how many on each point as the new hood woil also need them.If you are changing to a manual hood make sure you get the operating handle for the lid if you are removing all the motor drives.
If you are any good with electric and sparks you can keep the electric lid part operating off a remote switch as long as the rear of the hood has been lifted manually...good luckas it is not easy to do....garage the car if possible.

No.not a pro, just a cabrio lover who has had to learn the hard way.
If the manual hood has the mounting points drilled to accept the rear lift operating arm and the main drive arm it should fit straight on. Especially if it is off one of the later models.
Hope this is of some use as info on the hoods is hard to find.
