Chaps,

The motors fine apart from 2 things

There's a metallic sound coming from the nearside front wheel which get's louder the faster I go, it sounds like a really loud fuel pump. Sometimes with a passenger there's a quiet sound kinda like metal catching metal. Cars got 14" bottletop's fitted.

Coolent warning light comes on on the check control all the time. Have checked the coolent level which is fine. Have also changed the check control panel with the same results. Sensor mabye ?

Cheers lads....

For the noise from the wheel, check the dustshield for the brake. These are prone to rust / getting bent, and could be touching the disc.
Coolant light is probably sensor. Check by shorting the terminals in the plug together with a loop of wire. Note that the light wont go out until the ignition has been switched off.
Make sure you get the correct replacement sensor. There are two types. One fits terminals upwards, the other terminals downwards. If you get the wrong one it will indicate level OK when you are out of coolant, and coolant low when it is full.

As far as the coolant light goes

I found that the float on the sensor can stick, particulary if the head gasket has gone at some time and let oil into the water system.

When the water system is depresurised take the switch out and give it a good coat of cleaning

On the brakes, when doing what Brian suggested also check for stones trapped between the shield and the disk
