You find this very hard as i have just found out
Clifford no longer do the 300 and it is now the new G5 650.
I had a 300 and what you could do is take the alarm of your old
car and have it put on your new car and they used a new alarm loom.
Now with clifford now longer making the 300 most peps are F@~ked
when wanting to change alarm and like me have to by a new one
cough cough Ԛ£400 please

The best thing to do with a clifford (any model) is remove it and beat it with a hammer and burn it , thats what i do the minute they start giving me any grief !.

I don't suppose you have one for a Concept 50 ?
Cheers,
Ian.

Do Cliffords not work to well then when they have been moved from one car and fitted to another?
Bit concerned as i shall hopefully be putting my old one on the BM.

In my opinion (for what it's worth), Cliffords are just fine. Certainly the older Concept range. People love to slag them off as being unreliable, but this is usually down to dodgy fitting (most alarm places), or poor setup (most alarm places).Kedge wrote:Do Cliffords not work to well then when they have been moved from one car and fitted to another?

If fitted and adjusted correctly, then they are fine. I have had my old Concept 50 since 1996, had it swapped to my current car in 1997 and it has been excellent. The only reason I want the circuit diagram is so I can connect up to some of the spare outputs etc.
I can't comment on the newer Cliffords, but I suspect the same applies. You just need to find someone who actually knows what they are doing, and not someone who 'thinks' they know what they are doing. From my experience, I would say that being VSIB approved (therefore Thacham approved) means nothing. Most of them are twisty wire, scotchlok and insulation tape installers. It's getting hard to find people who can solder and take the time to use proper heatshrink tubing etc. Not to mention actually cutting a wire to length to avoid massive bundles of wire stuffed up under the dash
Even though my alarm has been very reliable, the wiring was really untidy. When I had my dash out, I was able to see exactly how bad it was, and removed metres of spare wire that was not needed.
Any alarm is only as good as the guy fitting and adjusting it.

Should be ok, never had anytroubles when it was on my Golf apart from alignment trouble on the solonoides(sp).
Should be fine as the guy fitting is very good and takes his time to make evrything is spot on no matter what he's doing to a car.
Being thacham approved doesn't bother me so long as it does the job.

I use a company called AUTOLECK in welling KENT and the have a great bunch of lads there and i am pleased to say i have been useing them for the last 8 years.
And the good thing is they are old school and solder everything and patch things into the loom useing heat shrink
Just had the new clifford G5 650 fitted and its all a ok. One thing i can say if you ever get a problem READ THE BOOK
