Gents,

The previous owner ran screws through my obc display, damaging the unit. Does anyone know if I need to pay attention to the software version on the side of the display, or will any 13 button unit work?

Thanks!!

All E30 13 button OBCs are interchangeable.

I'm not sure that Brian answered the question 8O

the white 'software' plug in the back of the OBC is specific to each model - 318, 320, 325, and also pre and post facelift.... allegedly.

There is a link to a scanned list on the zone... somewhere. I'll look for it.

So if I understand your problem - you can get ANY 13 button OBC and put the software plug from your EXISTING OBC into it, and all should be well.

ps here's a photo of a few of mine I took earlier:-

http://www.e30.de/
DO IT YOURSELF (list on the upper left)
'Karosserie/Innen'
scroll down to 'Instrumente' - article
'Codiersteckerliste E30
nÃÂatzliche Hilfe fÃÂar den BC2 Einbau'

click on the upper diagram for a readable scale

E.G. a 325i is a '4 - 6 TYP' - the '5 - 5 TYP' that I have in the picture above is from a 5 series.
