Does anyone know which gearboxes are available that I could use on my M60 conversion?
I know there is an auto (4 speed swicthable I think), but if a manual will fit I may like to go down that route?

only 2 manual options m8.
6s peed from 540 v8 or 5 speed from 530 v8
nothing else fits as its got a unique bolt pattern.
Both rare as fook and expect to pay 4-500 for the 5 speed and 1000 for the 6 speed.
Unless your lucky like i was last week and the seller didn't know its value
the 4 speed auto goes in with a bit off tunnel bashing but its huge and weighs about the same as a small car.
i had it in my touring and when you looked through the gear stick hole the output flange was about 3 inches past it.
the 5 speed is tiny in comparrison and weighs not a lot.

Cheers guys, I got the answers I was after!
Bigdek, you have totally put me off the auto idea, the engine is already pretty heavy, the lighter I can keep the rest of the components, the better so I will be hunting around for manual boxes now! I saw that red 5series touring on ebay when it first came on, but didn't know if the box would go or not, dammit!
FYI, my engine is a very late '93 4.0l M60 from a 740i. I've taken a gamble and bought it "blind", but then again it didn't cost alot because he bought the car for the auto box lol and didn't care about the rest!
Cheers for the help, at least I now know what I'm looking for
