Unlock how? Key in the driver's door, remote fob, key in boot lock or passenger door?

Because the key is unlocking the driver's door mechanically, and the central locking is intermittent.
If it's only ever unlocking that's the problem, it may be just a slight adjustment of the driver's door lock motor in its slotted mounts that is needed.

Problem is possibly with the door pillar plug and socket at the driver's door, but the central locking control wires are not normally affected. Your passenger door mirror should have given up long before these are affected, and the central locking should be permanently dead.
There's a modification to the wiring you should probably do before you do much else to this problem, that's been detailed many times before on this forum. Does't quite fit your symtoms, but worth doing anyway.
Remove the driver's footwell speaker and find two seperate red/black wires going to two seperate pins of the driver's door socket. Cut both of these wires and join together the two ends which don't go to the socket.

Mine was doing this recently, especially when its wet for some reason.
Got the whole lot rewired a year ago so think its maybe just corrosion making the lock stiff....lots and lots of WD40 seems to have done the trick
