The hood on my convertible was originally powered but it doesn't work. not too bothered about folding it manually but when its down it doesn't seem to fit right down in the hood well and the cover is lifting at the rear corners. is there any kind of adjustments i can make? also the cover doesn't clip down. just loose and i'm worried about it flipping up in the wind. there are what i can only describe as claws either side that look like they clamped it down when the hood worked properly. are there clips that replace these on a manual hood and can i fit them to mine?

you will need to fit some sort of switch to the motor to the flap so that the flap locks down.
Where abouts are you? If your local to me, you can come and see how i have done it!

Quaser speaks wisely - there are 2 motors; one raises, lowers and locks the flap using the claws as you say... this is the motor in the upper centre of the boot - the motor on the upper right hand side of the boot raises the hood frame itself (this is the motor that usually breaks)
someone on the zone replaced all the electrical hood bits with manual hood bits - cost about 100 GBP I think.
Short term solution is to jam a small block of wood in the mech so the hood flap can't open
I know it sounds pants but the flap flying open will cause a lot of damage

Thanks for the advice. i'm in the liverpool area but if quaser could post some instructions about that switch to operate the flap motor i'd be grateful. still worried that the roof isn't folding far enough into the well..am i missing something?

the hood should 'concertina' on itself every erm 9 inches or so - if it isn't folding properly it will stick out. There are 2 wire-filled straps (about 2 inches wide) which run on each side of the hood, on the inside, from front to rear - these help fold the hood correctly. I've seen these all bent out of shape so that they actually make things worse.
But even if the hood is folded correctly, if not held down, the hood lid will probably stick up about an inch at its leading edge

I would advse that it might be better to get it sorted rather than cause further damage to it....
Give JC a ring on 07871 662 902 - hes a whiz when it comes to these Hoods - sorted mine and adjusted it in a couple of hours...
"if its fitted it should work" is my motto

no probs - will look into it at the weekend - you will need 2 wires to run from the motor to the dash, one to run to the battery (put a fuse in there as well) one for earth, and a window switch and loom!

Thanks for the quick replies. the flap does stick up about an inch at the front when the hood's folded away so i guess thats ok. just need to sort out locking the flap down and maybe getting it working as a power hood again...funds permitting! where is JC based?
