hiya jon,
my mate is currently rebuilding my dbig case diff for me and slipping in a few more than usual plates to tighten it up, he is the diff man round here, he gonna start it on sat hopefully so as soon as i see him i'll ask him about it. btw i was told they are a derivative iof an atlas diff if so then spares will be easy peasy just speak to anyone with a mk2 escort.

U can buy the clutch packs still from bm, but from what i have heard its a real sod to do

Considering Selling the Cabby, looks like its gonna go
i watched my last diff getting the clutch packs changed - didnt look a massive job about 2 hours but we were talking away aswell no doubt he could of done it quicker.
afaik its opel that ues the same clutch plates
however as far as i know a full diff rebuild includes changing the propshaft input seal and thats some whacky crush washer that goes in there that you only get one chance to get right and there is alot of work fitting it
