How would I go about installing a push button start? I want to be able to start my car from a push button, and not from the ignition key.
Any ideas anyone?

Is that really wise after what happened to your car last week?

richbrook do universal push button starts, you cut the yellow/blacl starter wire and attach a wire on each end, if i remember correctly theres also an earth you need too, then just turn ignition on with the key and push button to start... key wont crank engine as the starter wires been cut!

Eko, thats the thing. I want to have a button, but hidden, so that only I know where it is, so that the ignition barrel doesnt start the car at all, so even if the idiots get to the ignition, they cant start it.

Im sure there is a kit out there where you still turn the ignition (with key) and press the button to actually start it.
i dnt think it is wise in just having a Push Button Start.

I want to have the key there too, so that I need the key, AS WELL AS knowing where the button is. If they jimmy the ignition barrel, they will still need to know where the button is to start it.

thats the kit im talking about mate... its a push button that you put where you want, connect it to the starter wire but the key wont start it, it will only turn as far as putting ignition lights on, then press button to start

As a security device this won't be very effective. Doesn't take long to hotwire the starter direct, or even push start the car.
If you want to use a hidden switch to make the car secure, connect a switch to short circuit the fuel pump wire after the fusebox.
If any attempt is made to start the car without turning the switch off, then the fuel pump fuse,11, will blow.

Green/purple wire that comes down the tunnel from the fusebox at the back of the glovebox, and then disappears behind the speaker panel and back the LH cill. Splice into it behind the glovebox, take the spliced in wire to a switch, and the other wire from the switch to the earth stud (with all the brown wires) centre top of glovebox.

Make sure you've got a few spare 7.5A fuses in the car for when you forget to turn the switch off!
