how do all,
i'm thinking about altering my 318is gearbox, i want a nice long 1st gear and then all the rest bunched up together close ratio. the idea is as i'm rallying it a nice long first gear will see me nicely round the hairpins and then everything else will give me plenty of power thro the rest of the straights (never really go much over 80-90 well i won't anyway ha ha). so i was wondering about the box. firstly and most simply what is the M3 getrag box like for tall first and would it bolt to my engine (does it have a removeable bell housing? otherwise i was going to rip my box open (dodgy second gear synchro anyway) and swap about some ratios from the 325 one on my drive to try and get somewhere.
anyone messed with them before? any m3 box experience or thoughts?

My only comment is your a Brave Man, the gearbox is probably the only thing I don't ever want to play with!

i've messed with a few gearboxes in my time, the worst being off one of our milling machines which had about 40 gears so this should be (i'm gonna regret saying it), simpler than that. why did i say that...
