Im in the middle of changing the front brake pads on my sport but when I fit the new pads the little metal clips at the top seem to prevent the outside pad getting far enough back to let the disc slide through.

See the pics below.

Are you supposed to take this off or bend it or something? The hole in the calliper where the clips slide into only seems to let the pads go back a little because of this even though the inside pad is right up as far as possible.

are u sure you have the right pads? those don't look the same.

Have u done the g-cramp trick to push the piston right back?

Yeah the piston is back as far as it can go. The pads look the same as the ones that came out. Its just the little clips which are causing the problems.

think i have just worked it out those springs are not supposed to stick out through the gap as you have them. I've just looked at mine and i think this is right. Put the sliding piece back on and u might see what i mean?!

Sorry i'm rubbish with words

Yeah, the springs don't go through that gap... They're to keep the pads in place in the caliper... so they're tight. They just 'rest' inside the caliper...

HTH
