I'll give you a pickle...

So my M3 had the wrong HT leads on it. Thats pretty wierd I thought. The car's at Hartlake at the minute having a bit of a tidy up, and as I've got some new HT leads and a set of plugs I asked Angelo to swap them over for me. No worries.

Yeah, right. He rang me today to say that he can't change the leads over as its got the wrong plugs in it! And he can't get the wrong plugs out! FIJCK!!

He's done what he can and seems to think that the only way to get them out is to strip the head and drill them out. Surely not?!!

I've just mailed the guy I bought the car from (who has an Evo Sport too) to ask who the hell put the plugs in. I'm gonna have to hunt him down and get him to remove them!

Any advice guys? Pleeeeease.

hmm, I dont think anyone would be stupid enough to cross thread all 4 plugs but you never know.

best advice to attempt removal is run the car to get the head up to temp, then try and get the plugs out, if they come out OK then result, if they are still stuck fast then its Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£ time.

I'm sure Angelo would have tried the above already though ?

Hi Adam, Dont know of Angelo, but i presume he knows his M3s with working at Hartlake, and dont want to tell him how to suck eggs, but the M3s that ive had you need a special plug socket, its thats got very thin walls so it fits down the head, the standard two size plug sockets you get in socket sets, will not fit, i bought mine from BMW dealers, cheers Dave

I think he said he tried an M3 one, but you never know. I've actually got one myself so when I pick the car up on thursday I'll give it a go.

If hes got air tools in the workshop, take the leads out and ask him to squirt some air down the holes to blow any dirt/metal out before you take the plugs out.

I think he said the problem we're faced with is the heads on the plugs are wider and he can't get anything round them as its too tight.

BUT (and this is what I'm relying on!!), someone presumably used something to put them in, so I need to use that same something to remove them.

Dude, i just saw the thread... sounds like uԚ´re havin seerious bother bro.
if u took the head off could u undo them from inside?

but what div would strip threads of all 4 cyls.

if you do have to drill out the plugs, will that not make the plug holes bigger?

This may be more difficult than you think.. The white isulator is a extremely hard material..

I go with Ant's idea using a slimline socket with a power bar if a deep socket is not available break the white isulator of the plug with a chisel..

OK, I've been doing some digging and it would seem that "NGK7912" plugs were put in.

Does this mean anything to anyone?
