Right heres the deal:
At the start of this year, I spent quite alot of money on my engine, both lots of bearings, new oil pump, pressure release valve, rocker arm and a few other bits.
However, I am now getting a fair bit of blue smoke from the exhaust, the occasional knocking when I switch the engine off and the oils pressure light sometimes comes on (at low revs or idle but only sometimes).
The car has only done 106000 miles with quite a good history.
Im not made of money, but what shall I do?
A. Get it fixed (I have no idea of costs).
B. Get a cheap engine off of here that is supposedly trouble free (could poss fit myself as mate has engine hoist).
C. Save up and get a recon engine with guarentee from a 'reputable company'.
D. Other?
By the way, its a 325i with an 073 ECU and chip.

If the oil pressure light is coming on at all (other than at start up), then theres something wrong and the damage could already be done

Ooh, does sound fairly terminal
Was the crank checked for condition and wear when the new bearings were fitted?
Seems odd that the pressure releif valve was replaced as they shouldn't really wear out, although it won't have hurt.
Anyone know how much a short block is from BMW, guess you won't get any more reputable than them?

Its never really been fine and the pressure release valve was only replaced as I thought it made sense while the engine was in bits.
Looks like ill be after a new engine....

go for option D, 2.7 it Steve, while you have the chance to have the engine out, now would be the time.
