which oil to use

Hello i have a 325i tourer ,covered about 180,000 miles , i use it daily covering about 20miles round . what oil would be recomended .cheers

Try looking at the stiky post about oil advice at the top of the forum. A lot of good advice and some deals to be had too

Do you know what oil was used in it earlyer?

The oilman sticky at the top is a good place to look.
Personally I put 0w40 Mobil 1 into my 158,000 miler 325i 'vert, which it seemed to take to very well indeed. The engine had been looked after however - firstly you might want to peek under the rocker cover/oil filler cap to determine how much gunk and varnish you have to deal with first.
Secondly - never use any oil additives - no oil is designed to cope with them _and_ the engine.
