Knocking noise?

Alrite peeps iv noticed on my sport when warm theres a knocking noise coming from around the rear of the engine,then when you press the clutch down the noise goes,i think it might be a worn release bearing has anyone come accross this before and if so what was it? cheers

yes , but not on a beamer , press in the clutch and silence, release for drive but in neutral it makes a whirring noise . choices could be
1. skew wiff hub or pressure plate
2. worn splines on plate hub
3. problem on the plate linings, oil or incorrect wear
4. check engine and transmission mountings
5. faulty release bearings
did you buy recently if so maybe something fitted out of sync
