basically at the moment i have a 320is and i am intent on building a 325i turbo, and i am looking for some advise on ways to go about it, and how much parts mite be for example. first of all does anyone know how much a 325i engine mite be from a breakers on off someone? and what kind of internal modification would be needed, and could i use a decomp plate to lower the compression instead of getting low comp pistons, i am trying to do the comversion on a budget, what kind of modifications would be needed to be made to the block ie things like oil returns and so forth.
i would be using mega squirt for the management, and i have sourced a stage 2 garret t34 for the turbo. does anyone know whether anyone makes a manifold for such an application, or whether it would have to be a one off custom jobbie
and if i could use the 320 sport running gear on the 325 engine, once its done till i can afford to uprate the running gear to more of a suitable level.
any advise would be very much appreciated, as i would like to know as much as possible before i get stuck in, dont really want to be having to scratch my head too much.
Thanks Kev!!!

Buy a standard late motor (8.8:1 CR I think) and then pay a visit to Ant
These engines take massive power hikes in their stride, as does the running gear and transmission.
Even the standard clutches are up to massive torque hikes!
Have a trawl through the various topics in the Forced Induction section, have fun
EDIT> Welcome to the zone by the way! And Ant is the username of a gentleman and scholar who's more than qualified to get you boosting

Anyone know for sure if the 666fabrication manifolds are compatible with RHD, or is that not an issue in this case if the car's a 320is?

I think the guy that makes them(jon volk?) is manufacturing some for RHD, at the moment i don't think they would fit.

you already have that, the std manifold flipped and welded/ported is fine for a small turbo, sits very close the the bonnet though.....

hello mate, welcome to the zone...325 turbo huh? you wont be sorry mate, Ant has recently recently done this conversion for me on my 2.7 cabby. i cant recommend the man enough!! My set up is using the late engines manifold which has been flipped and modified to fit a t3/4 turbo, im currently using a garret t3 from a cossie and megasquirt supplied and fitted by the man himself... i'd say the hardest and most expensive part of this conversion is the manifold, the rest is pretty basic and simple. im in Enfield if you wanna pop down and take a look at my set up..

has anyone in the north slapped a turbo on to a 25 lump? i am begging to see this in the metal so i can figure the whole thing out.
lets be honest every crazy bloke with a e30 and a basic driveway mechanic brain wants to turbo their beast but realistically how much does this cost to do it all and how much knowledge do you need?
i need more power but a turbo conversion is pretty scary......but the pics of ants turbo looked great in PPC magazine shoot (if that way the right mag i forget) may have to search it out and take another look.

My tubular manifold should fit a RHD car without issues. None of the runners are any lower than the stock manifolds so you would only need to route the downpipe around the steering column. The turbo adapters im am pretty sure will get in the way of the steering column.

Think we had different manifolds over here so the adaptors wouldn't fit anyway
Out of interest, how come you use machined flanges for your work John? I know they look nice and require less finishing, but the cost must be phenomenal compared to laser cut?

They arent too ridiculous. Around $75usd per manifold on the tubular stuff. I just prefer the finish over laser or water jet cutting. I feel it just makes for a more professional looking product.
