The black Billies are have standard rate damping, the yellow Billies are hard and both are non-adjustable. My Koni yellows are adjustable from firm to so hard they feel welded up

bilstein vs kopni debate is as old as time itself. myself, i believe that the arguement was around before god eve created adam and eve, if he did indeed do that.
i think they are closely matched; iv been in a few motors with koni's, including an e30 an they are a good bit of kit. iv got yellow bilsteins on mine; its actually hard to push the car down at the front they are that stiff;
basically, if you want an out an out rock solid e30 go kart and dont give a shit about bumps i would get billies; even though i find them nicer to live with over speed bumps than the standard boge counterpart
if you want adjustable damping and are scared of the hardness factor, go for konis
a lot of it comes to down to the name you prefer to be honest!

The shortened koni's are brilliant - not alot of places will sell you these ones as they wont know they exist.
These are the only ones available on the Zone Shop.
As for whether they are better than the Bilsteins - in reality it is really hard to say. From a technical point of view the Bilsteins are far better. As for on road performance - I really couldn't say.
The Koni's when set on hard are just way too hard and you just lose grip.
If your not bothered about adjustability then go for the Bilsteins, they are an ultimately better shocker.

I've got adjustable koni's on my E30 that i bought from Dan318-is, they are set to their hardest setting and are pretty dam good, i've had no problem's with them even though the front's are only 45mm when with a 2.5 they really should be 55mm but the koni's don't even sniff at it.
It is down to preference but have a read up in the tech thread's as the question's you are asking have already been answered mate
It is trial and error......what do you want from your car

Bilstein are good enough for M Power department and most specialist use them for E30 M3s and track cars etc

If its a fast road car or even track car best go for mono tube motorsport billies...just heard there is a company now supplying the original Group N struts but they will be very hard for road use...until you have tried all the options on the same car its difficult to scientific but then its still personal choice...everyones different

The H&R Cup kit is surprisingly good and has shown to last.
Quite a few guys use this for track days too combined with ARB's.
@ Ԛ£350 roughly, it is one of the best budget solutions with the slight downside of being a little low at the back.
