Mine are pretty rusty, going in holes. As they stand off the discs quite a way I can't think they do a very good job of keeping crap off the discs.
OK to leave them off?? Or do I need to order a new pair?
TIA
Stuart.

If you want to fit a new pair you will need to seperate the hubs, or cut some out of the plates.

Ive bought some to fit when I change my wheel bearings, they were about Ԛ£11 each

I removed mine when I upgraded to 325i legs and Koni shocks, the MOT man never commented on them.

My E30 must have come standard without backplates, cause they weren't there when I got my car a year ago... :?
