Hi pips, well it had to happen. Got a set of new heat shields from the nice bmw man. Set about taking of the exhaust manifold and yes you guest it, not one but two of the bloddy thing have broken off *&*^%^%$$ it :x .

Had a look in the frost catolouge and they do a nice tool that that say will drill a hole and then screw out the stud "works every time"

What is the best way to go about this thanks chris.

dont mess with it i have just junked a head that an "experienced mechanic" tried to get the stud out of! either tap and die or get it engineered out! if there is any stud petruding from the head weld a nut to it, the heat will free it and you got a method of removal then! if you are unsure at any point take it to a pro

hi, welded two out that was snapped off inside nothing stickinh out by welding onto it and useing mole grips, the heat unseized it and they ateel will not stick to the alluminium on the head do dont worry about that.

also if you undo them in future you could try to heat them up with a gas torch first to try unseize them if they feel tight. I always try this first for a while before drilling

i am sure the fast heating and cooling from welding will do wonders for the head
