Not sure whether i'm missing the obvious or not ... but is there a specific location for the OBC warning gong underneath the steering column? Guessing there must be, but can't see any info in the OBC fitting article.
Fitted mine last weekend but couldn't find anywhere to fit the gong so it's floating around at the moment.
Cheers.

Hi Bob - the gong should sit in a cradle that is in the panel above the driver's knees. I guess if the car never had an obc from the start then this cradle won't be present, but it would be easy enough to fit. If it makes you feel better my obc relay box is plugged in & sitting loose in the glovebox
Everything else is good though, yes?

Ed - yeah, everything else is sorted ... except the outside temp sensor, which i need to wire in. The obc and rest of the loom is in and working.
Fixed the problem with the temp sensor wiring going the wrong side. Just undid the loom and separated the wiring so it will reach the passenger side.
Oh yeah, and need to change the bulb for the button back-lighting. The screen works though.

Bob... if you take the cowl off, there should be a space in the foam bit where the gong should sit, somewhere in the middle... You'll have to cut it yourself... be careful!

Cheers Giles - should there be a bracket to secure it or just a cut out for it to rest in?

Sorry to butt in...
There is a plastic bracket which clips into the hole which you will need to cut for it. The OBC then clips in the bracket.
On the underside of the undertray, there should be a lots of foam, just left of the headlight adjusters (or near the right hand side if you don't have them) should be a small gong sized cut-out in the foam.
This is where you need to cut, but I would cut it too small to start with then increase the size until it fits perfectly....Rather than cut too big and needing a new panel.

Or...if you need a new panel, order a new one from BMW (Ԛ£30) and tell them the car is fittted with the OBC and (if you have them) headlight adjust.
The bracket Dave mentions is about Ԛ£3-4 from the dealers, part number fyi... 62 13 1 373 572.

Never fails to amaze me how many oddball minor parts are still available from the dealer for a car that's been out of production for 13+ years.
