I stripped a head and didn't depressurise it at all.
Just leave the fuel rail connected to the inlet manifold.

pull out fuse 11 with the engine running and wait for the engine to stall.
(it would have been quicker to use the search function btw)

Well, halfway through taking off the head, and there is hardly any mayo.....BUT shed loads of mustard !!!!!
Dose the oil in the sump stay emulsified ? As the engine has not been run for a good 2 days now, there is still mustard on the oil filler cap, rocker cover breather pipe and some in the pipe from the crankcase to the inlet manifold, but the oil in the sump is fine....no sign of mustard on the dipstick either...

remove the oil cooler pipes and get that blown through with some compressed air, mayo tends to cling in there and re-appear later on.
once you're all back together I'd run her up to temp using some cheapy oil, then drain and refill( with filter again ) with some decent stuff
Fluch the entire cooling sytsem out with a hosepipe too.
doing well fella !

Good thinking bat-man.....i was thinking of how to clean out the oil cooler section....
Is it worth connecting up the TB Heater pipes, i cant see the TB icing up in this counrty....
The cooling system does not seem to be that bad, i have all the front hose's off and the thermo housing, and they look pretty mayo free...

before refilling with coolant, run some TFR (traffic film remover) through it. your internals will never be cleaner!
it cost me about £12 for a gallon at my local motor factors and i used 1/4 of a bottle and flushed twice (in for a few days each time). i then flushed with plain water for a few days and refilled with cooland. hey presto!
mine was totally full of chocolate custard and it was so thick i couldn't get it out of the rad! this stuff worked a treat!
