Starting problem

i think my start motor is gone on my car when you attempt to start it, it makes a grinding noise and doesnt start at all, when you push the car and put it in gear the car starts

is this the starter motor thats gone?

also i have another question is the starter motor out of a e34 525i manual the same as mine?

need to get this issue fixed asap

Very possibly the starter motor yes.

If the E34 525i is the M20 12v engine then it will probably be the same.

It is an awkwardish job because there is limited accessibility to the bolts, from memory they are torx bolts.
