right, this one is for the serious drivers out there !!
i only recntly replace my rear top mounts with e46 m3 ones, and ofter going through a pot hole, one of the bushes poped out the mount !!
i have hit a few recent ly and this one may have just been the one to actually make them give way
any way looking at the bush, it had started to crack and perish and they have only been on there for 4 ot 5 months !
replaced it with another one ( i have spares lying aroung ) just to get me on the road again
has any one experienced this problem before , and is any one using after market ones form rogue engineering or ground control ??
also, is any one here using re enforcer plated that come with the ZM coupe/roadster with e46 top mounts ??
for the time being , i'm going to go to the dealers and check the part number against the euro c p , GSF top mounts an see what the difference is if any for the e46 m3 ones, and get somr re enforcer plates fitted from the z3.
but as i said i drive the car hard, and i've lost most of the comfort on the car already due to the stiffer set up, so sound absorbtion is not a concern, i just want a set up that wont fail on me every 6 months as i may well be keeping the car
i may have just been unlucky with a dodgy part, but i dont want to chance of a top mount giving way at high speed !!

I've had this twice in the touring when I fitted a H&R Cup Kit - came down to dodgy bushes.
Remember these are mass produced so there will be some that are not 100%.

just got a full refund from GSF, even though i paid discounted price for them, and i've been to bmw and ordered new E46 M3 cabrio ones, the original part no har been superseeded by an new one, meaning the original ones were not man enough, also ordered a ZM coupe re-enforcer plate which goes below the mount, if this fails its ground control or rogue engineering !!
the rougue ones are about £80 for a pair, but they are a fantastic looking bit of kit and the yanks love them !! i've used their short shifters before and they were amazing !

i've had exactly the same thing happen with e46 m3 mounts before and koni shocks/eibach arbs. tbh i never had this problem with e30 mounts years ago, wonder why i ever bothered to go up to the e46 m3/cab ones in hindsight.

Did you buy the M3 cab bushes from GSF or BMW? A fellow BMWCC member I know had a smilar problem with new mounts he got for his E30 cab. They were supposed to be Boge and suitable for E30 and E36 but both of them gave way within a couple of weeks. Think its safer to buy this kind of stuff from the main dealer.

they were from GSF e34 heavy duty ones made by boge, euro car parts ones are the same ones, identical part number, i'll check onthe OE ones from bmw
but no doubt i'll gave rogue engineering on at some stage !!

right the OE bmw ones for 46 m3 cabrio are made by boge, i've fitted these on today with the re-enforcing plate and the car is spot on, i feel the difference, there is less chance if any chance at all of the mounts playing up
the re-enforcer plate take a lot off the stress from the mount
will post up pictures in a bit

Kos;
can we get some pictures/part numbers please; am going to need these soon; found out one of my rear shocks is leaking too as well as having a fubar top mount so needs to be done as its also MOT time soon;
what was the total cost?
This is going to be another large dent in my already frail uni loan!

Changed my rear top mounts for the E46 M3 Cab ones, £12 + vat from the stealers (Cooper). Handling much much better now, the old ones were completely shot.

im going the e34 cab route with z3m reinforcer plate as i now have kos' old billies; if these fail then rogue engineering will be reveivingmy money!
what difference does a solid diff bush actually make handling wise?
