Update- thanks guys so i looks like there are ut three wires to connect of the loom now as i know the two reds out of the pump are permanent live and the two browns are earths.
i still have a red and yello coming out of the pump side though
and still have a green/brown oming out of the loom ecu plug
and still have a blue coming out of the loom ecu plug
any ideas.
ok just received me abs setup inc loom in the post and i can quite honestly say it seems a little scary,
can anyone help me identify the wires by colour as alot of them are cut and i dont know where the hell they shuold be going or what the hell they should be doing...
in the process of fitting abs arms (well only one so far) and hooking up sensors to what were originals abs front struts-
i hope its not gonna be too hard!

The ABS loom is really simple, have you got it as part of the main body loom?

sorry - from looking at it it looks as though it must have been cut from a car thatg had it in the main loom - there are 3 spots so to speak
1:the actual pump wires (heavy brown - black two pin plug)- and a thick loom collection of wires)
2:bulkhead wires (lots see pic...)
3:eculoom end aires (green - blue loads of brown)

looks like a right mess to be honest, the loom is seperate to main car loom i have done both a couple of times.
might be less work to get a loom from the breakers then it will just plug in.

Looks like someones taped the ABS loom to the main loom running down the left hand side of the engine bay, pull all that black tape off and you will be able to seperate them, then see what your left with

ok so now after getting rid of dirty tape and unneeded wires:
at the pump end coming out of that loom i have two thick red wires, a red and yellow thin wire and a thin brown...
at the ecu plug end i have a thin blue /green and a thin blue wire and three medium brown into one.
any ideas?

Well for a start, all red wires are permanent live (battery) and all brown wires are ground.
Do you have a relay with it?

Mine has a relay mounted above the glovebox next to the ecu.
Sounds like yours has been cut off

Ive just found out that later systems didnt have a seperate relay, they used the main relay for power.
This is where your red/yellow wire came from, pin 87 on the relay
The Blue wire is for voltage monitering and comes off the alternator
Nothing on my diagram about a green/brown wire though
Theres a green/red, its for the check control so it wont hurt to just insulate it and leave dissconnected
Good luck

ah thanks dan thats excellent
i brushed of the dust it is green/red! - but theres no abs in the check control - maybe the dash abs light?
so i guess i just need a relay now to plug the wire into.... thats a specific abs relay where i'll find pin87?
thanks again

If you dont have the bulb on the end of a long length of two wires insulated in plastic sleeving then the green/red will be for the instrument cluster,
Not an abs relay no, this system doesnt have one, the main relay is part of the engine loom, it also powers the fuel pump relay and injectors

Are you serious?
So thats it sorted then?!
green red to cluster for abs light
blue to alternator positive
red/yellow to pin87 of relay.
Legend!!
where is that relay located for the injecors/fuel pump /abs is it in the fuse box or seperate?
