the harder you drive it the faster the lights will go out.
its all determined by time and i think the rev speed or amount of time at certain revs etc etc

cheers

Andy is correct, but a rule of thumb is a green light goes out about every 2k miles.... unless you drive with absolutely no 'mechanical respect'

what would be an average mileage between red lights then? is there 5 lights so about 10000? mine has just came on today about 7000 miles from the last oil change ,although my sensors might be all fcuked up since the engine conversion.

sevice interval on most BMW lumps in e30s is 6k

my 5 green lights go out every 1k, then yellow one on.

as said before, the e30 actually works out how often the lights come on by looking at revs used, whether its cained from cold etc

service it every 6k though, regardless of service lights-the engine will outlast you then :D

??

this site suggests 7.5k to 10k between services

http://www.bmwworld.com/repairs/maintenance.htm

this one says 7.5k but they are a dealer :D

http://www.savagebmw.com/Service/conten ... ervals.htm

most other sites suggest 7.5k... I must be a careful driver then...... winkeye

lights will not reset by themselves.

you can use a special tool or a piece of wire

do a zone search on 'service' and 'reset'

you should have either green lights on (at ignition start-up.. they go out after a few seconds) or yellow / red on all the time; What do you mean you don't have any on yet?

reset tools can be bought from ECP for around £15 and are easy to use.

Mine's about the same. I don't hang about, but I never rev it above 4k (only then in 1st when pulling away) until it's right up to operating temprature.
I usually do the oil change as soon as the yellow comes on.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

mine last about 5-7k depends how wealthy I have been lol! not serviced the IS yet, not done enough miles but I'm down to 2 lights now lol!

it also goes out quicker if you have short journeys and also goes on how many times the car is stopped and started
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!
