My Alpina C1 2.3 keeps overheating when going slow or stationary.

I have totally flushed the sytem through and changed the thermostat over however this does not seem to have made any difference at all.

If I put the heaters on full blast then it does seem to bring the temperature guage down a little bit, but I am very concerned as it creeps up to the red.

What can I do/try? Would an electric fan sort this problem out? If so, are they easy to install or would it need to be done by a professional?

What parts would I need?

Thanks for any advice and help you can give, very stressed out!!!

Cheers

Sounds like either a dicky thermostat or a blocked rad. But you've already changed the stat, so it's not that (unless the new one is dicky or upside down).

Is the viscous fan working?

If the viscous fan is kaput, ditch it and fit a Pacet fan, or similar. They are easy enough to install, I understand.

Agree, if your having probs when stationary the coupling is likely to be fucked and not cutting in.

Quite common
