You must have a lecky roof den! (SAFE.....!!!)
Well its easy, eight screws holding the sun visors on, those hold the pannel up.
If you want to take it right out then you need to open the sun roof and take the wind deflector off the pannel will then drop down.
How are you going to run the wires?

I wired mine to the interior light on the drivers side. With a little bit of trickery, you can wire it so the lights come on when you open the door, then go out when you close it, but you can still turn them on with the door closed.

Think you would need to solder in a diaode to do that.Jamesb318is wrote:I wired mine to the interior light on the drivers side. If kos has given you the loom then thats all you need to make it work.

Live goes to one part of switch, door contact earthed wire goes to other part of switch, and a permanent earth to the final pole of the switch. That way, either side of the sitch is earthed, but is off when set to the door contact one if the door is closed.
To do this you need to take the mirror apart (just unclips, and rearrange the wires to the switches so each side has an earth) then run the earth wire you have added up into the arm of the mirror so that it touches the metal inside. that way, when you fit the mirror, the metal arm touches the body and makes the circuit.
Damn that sounds confusing, does it make any sense? its hard to explain!

Useful pics, but that only lets you switch it on by the switch and wont come on with the doors.
And as for the scotchlocks - NO! NO! NO!

Righty-ho.

This picture shows the black and white wires going from the red spade connectors to the permanent earth that is the ball and socket joint you can see the existing two wires going into and coming out the top. (When the mirror is fitted, it is touching the metal roof) If you just bare the ends of your wire and feed them in and glue them, this does the job.
You then give one side of the bulb a positive feed, from a fused 12v source (drivers int light) and the other side a switched earth (from the drivers int light switched by the door contact) Use the existing mirror loom.
Then add another wire linking the earth from the bulb to the the swithced earth wire to the switch.
This means the bulb always has a live feed, and that when in one switch position it earths through the mirror arm, and the other position it earths through the int light wire so comes on when you open the door.

Hope this sheds some more light! (geddit LIGHT!

Not sure about the wires either
but i think i'm getting the jist of it, the bit i wanted to say is when you unscrew the sunroof wind deflector its the two screws underneath there that hold the trim panel up.
If you don't remove them you break the plastic clips off the panel and have just waisted your time removing the deflector.
Nothing major if you have, you just need to glue them back to the panel.

So i take it its not possible to turn the lights off when the door is open (eg. when working on the car)

A is a fused permanent live, b is a contact switched earth.
Correct, lights stay on when door is open, just close it or hold the contact in when you want to work on it!
This way, when you switch either of the maplights on, all the interior lights come on because you're giving them an earth. Not for everyone, but im well chuffed with it!
Red is live, brown is earth
Door open

Switch on, door closed
