Engine and chassis numbers?

Going to look at a Sport on saturday and just wanted to know where the engine and chassis numbers were?
I know most people dont really bother but Im fussy when it comes to my cars and just like to know everythings 100%.

Just another little question while Im here too, the car doesnt have any tax. When I tax it will the tax start from this month or from when it ran out?

The tax will start from whenever you want it to.

You can choose to keep it SORN, or tax it. But if you start mid-month you will lose the start of the month, despite paying.

The chassis number should be above the bulkhead on the flat panel where the bonnet closes, below the windscreen. It should also be (I think) on a chassis plate which is riveted on near the backs of the headlights on the drivers side (?).

The engine number is near the base of the dipstick I think, and you may need to take something to clean off the rust/oil which is there before you can read it!!

Lots of assumptions there, and you know what people say about assumptions being the mother of all fcuk ups.

Someone else should confirm or otherwise!
