Hi,
Sent an email to Puma Racing asking info on flowing/porting my m20 2.0 head....
the response is below
Hi there,
could you please give me a price for flowing an 1988 2.0 bmw m20 head?its a 12v and I intend to run standard cam, and a big bore throttle body along with a mild ecu rechip?
Your help is much appreciated
Regards
Neil Purdom
Ԛ£650 assuming the valve guides and valves are in good condition. I'm fairly sure the bigger valves from the 325 can be used in that head. I could confirm that after examining it.
best regards,
Dave Baker

thats why i said 2.5. Just because it makes alot more sense financially.
One in the forsale ads for Ԛ£150 with gearbox. Thats an extra 40bhp. your not going to get that with a cam, BBTB, chip etc.
Do you see my point? But if you can't swap it yourself then it does get more expensive!

tbh mate your starting to spend money wastefully on the 2.0 lump if you go any further than chip and bbtb as these will make a nice difference in themselves and your gonna stick a 2.5 in there in the end which the parts arent transferable to.. hence why im doin nothing to my 1.6i lump even tho its crying for more go.. I know the money saved will be worth the slow speed transport for a while when it goes toward the new lump in the end..

Dont bother putting in a bbtb on your engine - just get a 325i t/b and bore out the inlet manifold to fit.
Or - get a 325i t/b and inlet manifold - should make a big difference!

Simon13- I do see what you're saying, and i wholehartedly agree!
However, I have no garage or off road place to store the car whilst carrying out the transplant...And no money to pay for the increased insurance the bigger engine will bring
I'm also rather loath to get rid of my 2.0 lump, as its only done 87k and is sweet running-I'd rather just pep it up a little
thanks for your advice peeps-much appreciated!
best get saving for the zone chip and bbtb then....
