resetting serpio-star

My 1990 325iT is fitted with a Serpio Star immobiliser and alarm. There is a control unit under the bonnet fixed to the o/s wheel bay next to the washer bottle. This takes a key to switch it on or off. At the moment as soon as it is turned on the horn/alarm sounds. I would like to know how to reset this item please.
