I got an advisory on my last MOT ,rusting fuel lines. I look under the car today and there is three?? Two go on to the fuel rail as you'd expect the other goes from somewhere above the tank ,along the car and ends with a short rubber pipe tucked into the inner wing with nothing on the end,not blanked off, just open at the end. Anyone got any ideas? Its a 1989 320i

cheers

That should be your breather pipe, I think. Anyone else confirm?

And is usualy the only one that rusts. These are normally replaced as standard when renovating an E30, but I've never replaced a fuel line.
On later cars with emissions gear the rubber hose at the front goes to a carbon cannister, and then through a solenoid valve into the inlet manifold.
